66. Hard Times Music Guide

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 66: "Hard Times." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.

ADDITIONAL NOTES - "Hard Times"  is another "title track" episode, and it does feature the eponymous piece of background music. The liner notes don't list a working title for the track.

We also have more of Lancer humming to himself that doesn't fit with the background music, only this time Lunk is humming a different tune to himself at the same time. It starts at the end of "Ineptitude" and continues over top of "Private Time Theme (a1)." Once again I'm counting it as dialogue.

An actual piece of unreleased music, "The Way to Love (Instrumental)," is used again in this episode, when Rook sees Romy with her sister Lilly. This makes the third time this piece has been used this way.

66. Curtain Call Music Guide

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 65: "Curtain Call." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Yellow Dancer concert!! This episode of course marks the first use of "Look Up! The Sky is Falling," and is the only episode to contain any of the second verse (although it's just in the background as Scott, Rook, and Rand are opening the secret passage, so it's hard to hear). And although this episode is the second use of "It Don't Get Any Better," it's the first and only time the main vocal portion is used.

There's a little musical sting at 4:55 (as the image of Yellow Dancer freezes and becomes a photo) that could have been an unreleased piece of "Shocked" music, but it's in the original Genesis Climber Mospeada so it's actually a sound effect.

64. Survival Music Guide

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 64: "Survival." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Lancer hums a song to himself as he waits at the beginning of the episode. It's a totally unique tune performed by the voice actor Jimmy Flinders aka Cam Clarke (as opposed to his singing voice Michael Bradley) and doesn't fit with the background music being played. It's really more dialogue than unreleased music, but I'm listing it here for the sake of completion.

This episode also does the editing trick we originally saw in episode 46 "Star Dust" of using just the last notes of "Intrigue," only this time it's tacked on seamlessly to the end of "Boobytrap" to give it a more climactic ending.

63. Lonely Soldier Boy Music Guide

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 63: "Lonely Soldier Boy." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Another big musical milestone with the introduction of Yellow Dancer! In addition to the title track, this episode also features the second half of "It Don't Get Any Better," which sounds so different from the first half I didn't realize they were the same song for the first two years until I heard the complete track for the first time at a convention in 1987.

62. The Lost City Music Guide

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 62: "The Lost City." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: New Generation-specific music hits an episode earlier than expected with the debut of "Cyclone Theme," by Alberto Estevez. This is one of just two contributions by Estevez, the other being the equally memorable "Rick Hunter's Theme," which also gets used in this episode when we get our first look at Rook.

We also have another tiny piece of unreleased music, a brief comedic piece as Annie kisses Ken when he tells her she can stay. Since I don't have a real title for it I'm refering to it as "Comedic Escalation (Annie Kisses Ken)."

On a personal note, this is also the first episode to use "Intruder" for Invid Shock Troopers stomping around. It's been used in fifteen episodes before this in the previous two generations, but to me that music always makes me think of stomping Invids.

61 The Invid Invasion Music Guide

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 61: "The Invid Invasion." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: No new actual music, but we do get a shift in tone as the story shifts to The New Generation, especially with the repeated use of "Robotech Love Theme II." On a personal note, for me this episode is the definitive use of "Broken Heart," as I always think of the scene from this episode with Scott mourning Marlene when I hear it.
