ADDITIONAL NOTES: "Cosmic Harp (b1)" and "(b2-interlude)" are used back to back again. It's really looking like those two are both the same piece.

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard
version of Robotech episode 53: "The Hunters." Bold text denotes that
this is the first appearance of that piece of music.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: The Macross video game music and sound effects that I thought might be original background music in Showdown are the same ones used in Southern Cross for Louie's video game in this episode. It's these little generic elements used in all anime at the time that made me surprised to learn that Robotech was originally three unconnected shows in Japan, way back in 1985.
We also hear "Macross Anthem" again, a rarity for the Robotech Masters portion of the series. The last time it was used was in episode 30, Viva Miriya.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: This episode has a plethora of small pieces, including two different "Private Time Theme" parts used three times, three different "Escalations" parts used a total of five times, and all four "Cliffhangers" parts also used a total of five times! There's even a "Resolve" thrown in for good measure.
"It's You (Piano Accompaniment)" is also used in this episode, making it the third time so far in the series. Who knew that was such a prominant piece?

What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 51: "Clone Chamber." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: We hear the final portion of "The Cosmic Harp" from the soundtrack today, with segment "(b2-interlude)." Interestingly enough it's used in the exact same placement, at the end of "(b1)"; but where the soundtrack has it fading in, it comes in nice and strong here. Both tracks are then followed by "(b3)," which does imply that all three might actually be one track.
This is also the first Robotech Masters episode to not use "The 15th Squadron" theme!

50. Triumvirate Music Guide
ADDITIONAL NOTES: The Cosmic Harp rears its messy head again, as we have a piece that starts out the same as "(a)" but then goes into a different closing. Then there's a brief break and we go into "(b3)," followed by what sounds like "(a)" edited a bit shorter so it will end in time with the scene.
I compared it to (a2 Variation) from "A New Recruit" and I think it's yet another new piece. So I'm calling it (a3 Variation). At this point I'm starting to think there may be enough unreleased variations on "The Cosmic Harp" that it could probably get its own EP.
And speaking of "The Cosmic Harp (b3)," this is also the first time it's used in the series.
Usually when I list the same piece of music back to back it's because it's used, then we just have some dialogue with no music for a while, and then the same music is used again. In the case of "Boobytrap" this time it's because one scene uses the last part of the song, and then when the scene changes it loops only the beginning of the song, which both have different moods! Some creative editing there.
This episode also uses "Robotech Love Theme I" for the first time in Robotech Masters; the last time we heard it was in "To the Stars," the final episode of The Macross Saga.

49. A New Recruit Music Guide
What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 49: "A New Recruit." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: This episode features a new variation of "The Cosmic Harp (a)," and I believe it's an unreleased one. At first I thought it was simply slowed down by about 25%, but it has a completely different closing note. Usually in these cases I can tweak the song using Audacity and see what they did, but none of that worked this time. It's always possible that I simply wasn't able to recreate it and the closing note was just edited out of the official "The Cosmic Harp" medley release, but I really don't think that's the case.
I want to label it "The Cosmic Harp (a2)" since it's a variation on the original (a) theme, but that doesn't really work for dissecting the CD track into its separate parts, so I've decided on calling it "The Cosmic Harp (a2 variation)" since it's not included in the "Cosmic Harp" medley on the soundtrack.

48. Deja Vu Music Guide
What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 48: "Deja Vu." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: We have another piece of music that is definitely new but questionable if it's actually considered part of the musical score, when Bowie begins whistling. It's definitely not the same whistling originally used in Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, so it's not a sound effect.
Dana claims Bowie is whistling a song he learned from Musica, but it isn't any of the "Cosmic Harp" themes or even "The Hive". However it does bear a passing resemblance to "Musica's Theme." In the 20th Anniversary Soundtrack liner notes composer Arlon Ober says that the tracks were originally named after characters and situations, and even specifically cites "...there was 'Musica,' which was a very interesting and bizarre piece." So since the script specifically called for a character to whistle a song from Musica, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that someone would have picked a track labeled "Musica" to listen to for inspiration on what to whistle.
Sadly Arlon Ober passed away in 2004, so we'll probably never know for sure. John Mortarotti was the one to actually edit the music into the episodes, so there's still a chance he might remember.
This episode also uses both the main and "Resolve" portions of "Alien Attack" back to back. This is the second time this has happened so far in the series.

46. Star Dust Music Guide
What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 46: "Star Dust." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: This is of course the episode where we get to hear George Sullivan's rendition of "It's You," the closest Southern Cross gets to having an idol singer. Perhaps that's why George doesn't change the gender in the line "the me whose lost her heart"? More likely he's simply a lyrical purist. This is also the first time we get to actually see Bowie playing piano.
The unreleased instrumental version of "The Way to Love (Minmei Version)" is also used as background music again in this episode, not just once but twice. This time it runs longer so we get to hear a lot more of it.
This episode also includes "Alien Attack" and "(Alien Attack) Resolve" actually used back to back for the first time, reflecting the way they were made into one track on the soundtrack.
It's the little things that get ya-- notably the repeated usage of just the climactic two notes of "Intrigue" used as a Shocked-style sting in this episode. (But not the additional short repeat of the final note after a break, which could have concievably been intended to be used alone.) Took me a while to nail that one down.

45. Metal Fire Music Guide
What follows is a list of all the music that appeared in the standard version of Robotech episode 45: "Metal Fire." Bold text denotes that this is the first appearance of that piece of music.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: We get a new portion of "The Cosmic Harp," but since the 30th Anniversary Soundtrack still leaves it as a medley I'm not sure if what we're hearing is the end of the piece we already heard in the previous episode or the beginning of a new piece we haven't heard yet.
Here's how I'm breaking "The Cosmic Harp" down for the sake of this list:
Musically it sounds like it's three separate themes, hence the a, b, and c labels. The "b2 interlude" portion could be either a fourth theme, a small transitional piece like "Escalations" and "Cliffhangers," the opening to "b3", or a bridge if "b1," "b2" and "b3" are all one piece.
The point of all this is this episode uses "a" and "b1" together in the same way it appears on the soundtrack, so without getting to hear them isolated as they were originally made I have no idea if it truly counts as a new piece of music or not. All I can tell you for sure is this is the first time we hear the portion that runs from 0:22-0:33. Since it is a new melody, I'm counting it as new.
On a completely different note, for the third time in the series someone yells "Red Alert!" as the "Red Alert" music begins. For a piece that was simply called "Chase Battle 3" when the show was being made, the soundtrack staff certainly picked the right name for it.

The Cosmic Harp (a) [0:00-0:21]
The Cosmic Harp (b1) [0:22-0:33]
